Imhotep (aka I-em-hetep, Imhetep) Imhotep was the vizier of King Djoser of the 3rd Dynasty. He designed the first stone building ever erected, the Step Pyramid of Djoser at Saqqara. His skill and intelligence were revered so much that he was later deified. He became a god of medicine, healing and learning. He is shown as a man with a shaved head and a sheet of papyrus on his knees. Some accounts say he was the son of Ptah. His oldest known shrine is in the city of Memphis.
